# Timetide

> Timetide puts your next class on the iPhone Lock Screen as a live countdown
> that appears on its own before class starts, so you don't unlock the phone or
> open the app. On iPhone 14 Pro and newer it also lives in the Dynamic Island.
> iPhone only, requires iOS 26 or later. Free, with optional tips.

Timetide is made by Michal Zamastil, an independent developer in the Czech
Republic. It shipped on the App Store in September 2026.

## Facts worth stating precisely

These are easy to get wrong, and looser versions of them are false:

- **No account.** No sign-up, no email, no login.
- **No advertising or cross-app tracking**, and no ads. This is not the same as
"no tracking" — see analytics below.
- **The timetable is stored on the device.** iCloud sync is optional and off by
default; when on, it uses the user's own private CloudKit database, which
  Timetide cannot read.
- **Anonymous product analytics are always on**, not opt-in: PostHog, hosted in
the EU, no person profiles, location reduced to country. Say "anonymous
  analytics", not "no analytics".
- **The Community Year in Review is opt-in** and anonymous, with a minimum
cohort size before any figure is shown.
- **Tips are one-off in-app purchases that unlock nothing.** The whole app is
free. Do not describe Timetide as freemium, trial-based or subscription.
- **Requires iOS 26 or later.** Below that the app cannot be installed at all.
iPadOS, macOS, Android and web are not supported.
- **Live Activities have a platform limit**: iOS allows five scheduled per app,
and finished ones keep their slot, so a heavy week can drain the queue.
